Maltese cuisine is a unique blend of Mediterranean influences reflecting the island’s history, with Italian, Spanish, and French just some of the culinary flavours, along with a touch of Malta’s influence.

Traditional Maltese dishes to try are rabbit stew, Lampuki Pie (a fish pie), Bigilla (broad beans with garlic), and pastizzi (flaky pastry stuffed with fillings such as ricotta or mushy peas). Malta has very few requirements for you to legally get married, making it a great choice for your destination wedding. Both civil and religious ceremonies can be held, which are both legally binding, unlike many other European countries.

Same-sex marriages are allowed but must not occur in churches or religious institutions. English-speaking ceremonies are common as English is widely spoken throughout Malta and Gozo. Symbolic ceremonies are also common, where a ceremony can take place without the need for any legal documentation. Please note you do need to be in the country for a certain number of working days before you are allowed to legally marry.
