Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How does WedAwai work?

We try to keep things pretty easy:

  • Search for venues by criteria, browse the venues one by one, or talk to us about your vision and needs

  • Find appropriate wedding venues within your budget

  • Request a wedding date with us - the form can be found on each venue’s page

  • Secure your wedding venue with a Deposit once happy with the wedding date - we will send out a payment link to your inbox together with Terms & Conditions. All the payment is in £

  • Set up a payment plan if you wish to do so - we keep your direct debit with our bank and will pay the venue only when the time comes - you just need to give us final guest numbers up to 2 months before the wedding

    2. Do I need a wedding planner for my wedding abroad?

ALL our wedding venues offer an in-house wedding coordinator or wedding planning service. This is your main point of contact after you secure your wedding date with us. Using a wedding coordinator within the venue is a very cost-effective way to plan your wedding abroad. Additional suppliers like a wedding florist or a DJ will be recommended by your planner - however, you do have the flexibility to invite your suppliers too!

2. Can I get legally married abroad and is my marriage legal everywhere?

This depends on which country you are going to. Every country has a minimum residency requirement before you can legally marry. If the required residency period is too long, you could have a symbolic ceremony abroad. Most European countries require just a few working days before the ceremony, making legal marriage possible. A local coordinator and planner can assist with obtaining the Town Hall marriage license and organising the Registrar. Most countries then provide or recommend a translator as well. Legal ceremonies in English are available in Cyprus and Malta.

Your marriage is then legal in every country, you might need to get the marriage certificate officially translated and stamped by Apostille in your home country. Ladies (and some Gentleman), please note you will be traveling on the same passport there and back, no need to change your surname until you are back home!

We always recommend a symbolic ceremony at the venue as it is far easier and you can personalise the text, music, and timings to your vision!

3. How do I find the suppliers I need to complete my wedding day?

Our local coordinators offer a list of recommended suppliers, we can also recommend suppliers that are local and familiar with the venue. However, you are welcome to organise and invite your suppliers/vendors if you wish. Booking the venue alone gives you that flexibility.

4. How and when do I book my travel?

We can assist and recommend travel companies that fly to the region where your wedding will take place. We will also highlight how many days you need to be in the country of your destination wedding before your legal ceremony.

Wedding dates can be usually booked years ahead, where flights and travel only 12 - 11 months before travel. Secure your wedding date first and keep an eye on flight releases as the first issue of flight times is usually a lot cheaper.

5. Can I speak to a real person when booking my wedding with you?

Of course, our LiveCHat was created by an experienced wedding planner and travel agent, Martina. We are always working on improvements, and Martina is available for a call as well. Once your wedding is booked, you will be in contact with your local coordinator/planner, who will look after you from the point of booking until your last glass of bubbly on your wedding day.

However, please note that destination weddings have a more relaxed planning process, and you will speak to your coordinator more frequently within the last six months before the wedding, rather than continuously from the booking point.

6. What happens if I need to cancel or postpone my wedding?

We understand that life happens and plans can change. All bookings are subject to the Terms & Conditions, which you will sign at the time of booking. Venues are booked with a deposit required by each venue. Deposits are non-refundable. Postponement fees might apply depending on each venue's Terms & Conditions. Our general Terms & Conditions can be viewed here.

7. Can I set up a payment plan with you?

Yes, we do offer a direct debit set up to make your planning and payments easier.
